New Packaging Announcement (4/12/2023)

Hi there, we’re excited to announce that we’re transitioning from glass jars to BPA-free, FDA-approved, and fully recyclable plastic jars for our Black Sesame Crunchy Butter.  

As much as we adored the glass jars, we've decided to put production of them on hold. We know this may be a bit disappointing, but we believe this is the right decision for now, as this switch will help us:

1) make our products more convenient and less prone to breakage during transit,
2) reduce our carbon footprint (glass is ~40x heavier than plastic!), and
3) keep our business healthy and sustainable so we can stay around and make delicious Chinese-American spreads!

Rest assured, the love, care, and quality of the ingredients and manufacturing process will stay the same. The stuff you love inside the packaging won’t change!

While we make this transition beginning in the next few weeks, please stock up on the remaining inventory of glass jars while supplies last!

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the plastic safe and durable?

Yes! We’re using BPA-free and FDA-approved jars that will lovingly hold your crunchy butter until you’re ready to devour it (again). As always, our shelf life is 1 year opened and 2 years unopened. 

Is it recyclable? What are the environmental impacts?

By switching to fully recyclable plastic jars, we’ll be reducing our carbon footprint. We learned this recently too, but because glass is heavy (sometimes ~40x heavier than plastic), its carbon footprint is much higher. More weight means more energy used to transport an item from place to place.

What else is changing?

Tl;dr: nothing! Rest assured, the love, care, and quality of the ingredients and manufacturing process will stay the same! The amazingly crunchy and nutty black sesame goodness inside the jars will be the same product you’ve known and loved. 

When will the transition happen?

Updated 5/17/23: All orders made after 5/25 will be sent the newest plastic jars! 

Will my favorite specialty store also carry plastic jars only? 

Yes, eventually! The transition won’t be perfect so you may find glass or plastic jars at different retailers for some time, but eventually, we will fully switch to plastic jars everywhere.
