Directions
Black Sesame Crumb filling/topping:
- In a large bowl, add cubed butter, dark brown sugar, granulated sugar, and flour.
- Using a pastry blender, your hands, or a mixer, combine ingredients until mixture is crumbly. The biggest pieces should be pea-sized.
- Stir in Black Sesame Crunchy Butter, making sure not to overmix and that it remains crumbly.
Cake
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and line a 9”x13” baking dish with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in one egg at a time until smooth.
- Stir in the vanilla, mashed bananas, and milk until combined.
- Dump in all of the dry ingredients and mix until no dry spots remain. Be careful to not overmix or the cake will be dense.
- Add half the cake batter into the lined baking dish, making sure it is an even layer. Tip: You can use an offset spatula or flat end of a dough scraper to evenly spread the batter.
- Top with half of the crumb mixture.
- Evenly spread the rest of the cake batter on top, then sprinkle the remaining crumb mixture on top.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire rack to cool for another 5-10 minutes.
- Slice into 20 servings, or as many as you prefer!
Black Sesame Glaze
- In a medium bowl, mix the powdered sugar and Black Sesame Crunchy Butter.
- Stir in the milk half a tablespoon at a time until you get a thick, runny glaze consistency.
- Use a knife, fork, or piping bag to add the glaze over the crumb cake slices.
