When can I expect to receive my Rooted Fare package?
The next ship date of our newest flavors (Chocolate and Salted Caramel Crunch) is Thurs, 11/6.
Non-holiday times, we generally ship orders out every Tuesday and Friday, as we make our spread in small-batches (and with love) to make sure we achieve the best flavor + quality possible! You can expect to receive your package 2-5 days after the order ships, but shipping has become more unpredictable, so please expect shipping delays.
For the 2025 holidays (11/26/25-12/19/25), we ship orders every day, excluding Sundays and 11/27. Please expect shipping delays.
We will offer multiple shipping options including Ground/Economy, Priority, Priority Express, and First Class. Free shipping on orders $40+ only applies for Ground/Economy shipping.
I want my order to arrive by Christmas. When should I order by?
To receive orders before Christmas, please order by the following times:
- Mon, 12/15/25 with Ground/Economy
- Tues, 12/16/25 with First Class
- Wed, 12/17/25 with Priority
- Fri, 12/19/25 for Priority Express
When's the last day you ship this year?
All orders placed after Sat, 12/20/25 at 12:00pm PT will be shipped in the new year. Our team will be on winter break from 12/20/25-1/5/26.
Where does Rooted Fare ship?
We ship to all 50 US states -- hip hip, hooray!

What makes the Crunchy Black Sesame Butter black?
Our main ingredient for this lightly sweetened black sesame paste or spread is freshly roasted and ground black sesame seeds, which naturally gives our spread its beautiful and rich color!
What is black sesame?
Black sesame is a magical ingredient that's said to be great for your skin and hair because it's packed with iron, calcium, and antioxidants. It's said that it was once so rare and coveted that only the emperor of China could have it!
Is the Crunchy Black Sesame Butter vegan?
Yes, Crunchy Black Sesame Butter is plant-based and includes no artificial preservatives or additives. We only use a few high-quality ingredients.
Do I have to refrigerate it?
No need to refrigerate your Crunchy Black Sesame Butter or other Rooted Fare spreads. All products are naturally shelf-stable, meaning you can leave it in a cool, dry place, like a pantry or stashed in your office desk for a quick spoonful between calls!
If you like the consistency a little thicker, we recommend putting it in the fridge.
What's the shelf life of Rooted Fare products?
Unopened: up to 2 years.
Opened: up to 1.5 years
Can I gift Rooted Fare?
Of course, you amazing gifter, you! Check out as normal and make sure to put the shipping address as your recipients'. If you'd like to add a special note, also include this before checkout. You can also find us at a store near you.
Who made the recipe for Crunchy Black Sesame Butter?
Co-founder Ashley first created this one-of-a-kind black sesame paste and nut/seed butter based on her grandma's award-winning recipe for glutinous rice balls filled with a sweet, luscious black sesame filling called tangyuan. We loved the OG but we like to think we've created something even more delicious that can be put on anything and enjoyed anywhere.
Our other limited-edition products are also inspired by flavors from our childhood!
Can I buy Rooted Fare products in stores near me?
We're currently carried in over 150 stores, most of which are in sunny LA, CA where we're based -- find the store nearest you on our Store Locator page.

What sets Rooted Fare apart is we're proudly Chinese-American. We're a food brand that hopes to inspire all people, especially 2nd generation Chinese Americans, to embrace the messiness and joy of figuring out how and where we belong.
