Inside our Holiday Set
This 6-piece mini holiday set is the perfect gift for foodies, cooks, and travelers! It's also gift-ready, so ship it as it is or put a festive bow on it before gifting. You can even leave a short message during checkout and we'll hand write a note for your gift recipient (lucky them)!
3 mini jars of sauce
Inside, we feature 3 4oz jars total -- each is a signature Sichuan sauce created with immigrant chef Wenling Peng's original recipes. They're versatile and incredibly delicious for amping up a weeknight dinner or getting creative with on the weekends.
Postcards with recipe inspiration and stories
Included are two postcards with recipe inspiration for each sauce, chef Wenling's story, our story, and limited-edition art you can keep!
This 100% premium cotton bandana featuring a hand-drawn design of our favorite ingredients and tools is a great statement piece that's also functional -- keep hair out of your face while getting creative in the kitchen or studio or wear it to the next music festival.
For every jar sold, we share profits with the immigrant chef recipe creator so they may use the extra income for whatever most empowers them today. In this case, your purchase will benefit chef Wenling Peng.
Sauces with a Cause
We share profits for every sauce sold with the immigrant chef recipe creator as we aim to create a more personal and equitable food system that celebrates diverse immigrant foods & their makers! Avid eaters (like you!) also finally get an easier way to recreate or explore cultural cuisines.
Meet the Chef
Wenling is a first-generation immigrant chef who moved from Sichuan, China to L.A. in 1999 with a dream. After years working in Chinese restaurants, she opened up a cozy noodle shop called Cup of Noodles. Rooted Fare is honored to partner with Wenling to create flavorful and legacy-packed sauces you can enjoy at home!

Black Sesame Tang Yuan (Sweet Rice Balls)
Tang Yuan is a sweet rice ball dessert that’s eaten with family to symbolize togetherness on Chinese New Year. Our Black Sesame Crunchy Butter is inspired by the popular sweet, luscious filling that’s traditionally made with black sesame and lard. Since lard is hard to come by, our recipe uses coconut oil and black beans as delicious (and vegan!) alternatives.
This Dan Dan sauce is such a good staple! I add it to so many of my vegetable dishes and it really rounds out what would normally be a pretty plain side and gives it a deeper, more savory flavor.
"My New Favorite Sauce"
[Dried Chili Sichuan Dressing] has the kind of spice and flavor that adds to the taste of the dish rather than burning my mouth. It's sweet with a little kick and I used it on some stir fry dishes, chicken, and more. I can't wait for my next bottle.
"Simple Ingredients and Incredibly Delicious"
This is my first time trying black sesame crunchy butter and I gotta say- I reach for this more often than any of my other stocked nut butters.
