The essential ingredient for creating the outside of the Tang Yuan. We've included 2 jars so you can have more fun experimenting and less stress when happy accidents happen.

Our step-by-step and easy-to-follow instructions (plus helpful pictures) give you everything you need to know to nail making Tang Yuan, even if it's your very first time! We also shot a short video tutorial with heirloom tips and tricks to get the dough and folding just right.
Togetherness & happy accidents
Tang Yuan symbolizes togetherness! Taking time to create and eat these classic desserts can bring about appreciation for what we have while looking towards a year full of new possibilities. Even when we mess up on Tang Yuan, we can instead see them as happy (and delicious) little accidents.
Sauces with a Cause
We share profits for every sauce sold with the immigrant chef recipe creator as we aim to create a more personal and equitable food system that celebrates diverse immigrant foods & their makers! Avid eaters (like you!) also finally get an easier way to recreate or explore cultural cuisines.
For every jar sold, we share profits with the immigrant chef recipe creator so they may use the extra income for whatever most empowers them today. In this case, your purchase will benefit chef Wenling Peng.

Black Sesame Tang Yuan (Sweet Rice Balls)
Tang Yuan is a sweet rice ball dessert that’s eaten with family to symbolize togetherness on Chinese New Year. Our Black Sesame Crunchy Butter is inspired by the popular sweet, luscious filling that’s traditionally made with black sesame and lard. Since lard is hard to come by, our recipe uses coconut oil and black beans as delicious (and vegan!) alternatives.
This Dan Dan sauce is such a good staple! I add it to so many of my vegetable dishes and it really rounds out what would normally be a pretty plain side and gives it a deeper, more savory flavor.
"My New Favorite Sauce"
[Dried Chili Sichuan Dressing] has the kind of spice and flavor that adds to the taste of the dish rather than burning my mouth. It's sweet with a little kick and I used it on some stir fry dishes, chicken, and more. I can't wait for my next bottle.
"Simple Ingredients and Incredibly Delicious"
This is my first time trying black sesame crunchy butter and I gotta say- I reach for this more often than any of my other stocked nut butters.
